Your payment card is defective. What should you do?

If your card is defective, you can request a new one using KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Mobile, or you can ask Kate to help.

Defective debit card?

When you request a replacement debit card in KBC Brussels Touch or KBC Brussels Mobile, you’ll get your new card by post within five banking days.

If you’re under 18, you’ll need to ask one of your parents or your legal guardian to apply for you.

The cost of your debit card is included in the annual fee for the KBC Brussels Plus Account. If you hold a KBC Brussels Basic Account, you pay 9 euros to have your defective debit card replaced.
If you hold a KBC Brussels Basic Account, you also pay 9 euros for a replacement credit card or prepaid card.

  1. Open KBC Brussels Touch and tap or click ‘°°° More’
  2. Select ‘Debit cards’
  3. Select your defective debit card
  4. Open the ‘Manage’ tab
  5. Tap or click ‘Block or replace’ at the top right
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions

  2. Tap ‘My KBC’
  3. Tap your defective debit card
  4. Select ‘Block or replace’
  5. Tap ‘Replace your card’
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions

Just go to your KBC Brussels branch and get yourself a KBC Brussels Go Card on the spot. You can use it until you receive your new debit card.

KBC Brussels will automatically send you a new card a few weeks before the expiry date.

When you open an account with us, you don’t have to wait until you receive your debit card to start using it. Our KBC Brussels Mobile app is updated with your card details so you can already use them to make payments. The same goes for when you have to apply for a new debit card after losing your current one or it gets stolen. Once you request a replacement card, its details are already available in KBC Brussels Mobile for making payments.

Simply log in to KBC Brussels Mobile and tap ‘My KBC’, scroll to ‘Means of payment’, then select your new debit card and tap ‘View card details’. Link your card details to your Google Wallet, Fitbit or Garmin app to pay right away with your smartphone or smartwatch.

What to do if your credit card is defective

  1. Log in to KBC Brussels Mobile
  2. Tap ‘My KBC’
  3. Scroll to ‘Means of payment’ and select your credit card
  4. Tap the three dots at the top right
  5. Tap ‘Block or replace’

  3. Type ‘replace card'

If you haven't started using our app, contact your KBC Brussels branch or KBC Brussels Live.

We'll check your card and, if necessary, ensure that it is replaced as soon as possible.

How do you request a PIN for your card?

When you ask us for a new debit, credit or prepaid card, it’s sent to your home address. That means you don’t need to collect it in person from your branch. You can get a PIN for your card either using our KBC Brussels Mobile app or by text message.
